Terms of use

Last updated October 19, 2026.

By using PassportPhotoGuide you agree to these terms. In short: the guide and the checker are free reference tools, the specifications are published for information rather than as professional advice, and the decision about whether a photo is acceptable always belongs to the authority you are filing with.

The checker measures a photo file against the specification you select: image dimensions, file size and format, the head height between the guide lines you position, the lightness and evenness of the image border, and a sharpness estimate. Those measurements are derived from your file in your browser and are offered as a fast first pass. They are not an official assessment, they cannot account for every rejection reason an examiner applies, and a "looks compliant" result is not a guarantee that an application will be accepted. Specifications also change; the date each figure was checked is shown on its page.
